-- Sailors Exposed to the U.S. Nuclear Fallout --

105 Nuclear Tests: The Full Extent of the Damage Remains Unknown

The United States conducted a total of 105 nuclear tests in the Pacific between 1946 and 1962. While the Daigo Fukuryu Maru, which was exposed to radiation in 1954, is well known, it is not widely recognized that many other ships were also affected by radioactive fallout. Additionally, due to political settlements between Japan and the United States, investigations into these cases were eventually abandoned.
